An Unmet Needs Assessment Tool for Cancer-Related Cognitive Impairment Impact: The MASCC COG-IMPACT
An Unmet Needs Assessment Tool for Cancer-Related Cognitive Impairment Impact: The MASCC COG-IMPACT
The COSA-endorsed MASCC COG-IMPACT Tool is the first purpose-built tool to measure the difficulties and associated unmet supportive care needs resulting from cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI). It is a self-report tool consisting of eight subscales, and 55 items, scored across two indices: (1) difficulties and (2) unmet needs.
In the clinical setting, the MASCC COG-IMPACT provides the necessary information, beyond what is provided by subjective and objective cognitive functioning assessments, to provide tailored person-centred supportive care and referral. In the research setting, the MASCC COG-IMPACT Tool may be used in concert with subjective and objective cognitive assessments to provide a more comprehensive understanding of CRCI, its impacts, and its comorbidities, as well as an outcome measure for interventions.
